The area of the study was Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Anambra State. A total of 40 engineering lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University formed the population. The researcher used the whole population for the study since the population was small. The instrument for data collection was a self-constructed questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed using simple frequency counts and mean. The bench mark of the results of the mean was 2.50. The result indicated that the major information needs of engineering lecturers are education, research and personal development; Conference participation, workshops and correspondence with fellow professionals are the most accepted means of seeking information; challenges encountered by the lecturers while seeking information is inaccessibility of library information resources. Abstract This research adopted a survey design which sought information from respondents on the Information needs and seeking behaviour of practising nurses in Nigeria: the case of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Ihiala. The population comprised fifty-two (52) practising nurses in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Ihiala. There was no sampling because the whole population was studied since it is small and manageable. The nominal role of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital was used to derive the population of the study. A questionnaire entitled “Information Seeking Behaviour of Nurses Questionnaire (ISBNQ)” was developed by the researcher, validated by experts and used for data collection. Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Co-efficient was used to obtain a reliability coefficient of 0.84. Data were collected and analysed using mean scores. The findings revealed that practising nurses in the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Ihiala need information on education and training, information to improve knowledge in clinical areas, care and management of patient, HIV/AIDS, immunization among others, nurses obtain the needed information mainly through their working colleagues, working colleagues such as nurses and doctors were accepted as the most adequate information source, lack of current materials on nursing and lack of information literacy were the most ranking problems of information needs of nurses. Based on the findings, recommendations include among others that the management of the hospital should provide training, workshops and other current information sources to managers, clinical nurse specialists and doctors since nurses seek information from them

ABSTRACT This study sought information from respondents on the problems caused by the students use of cell phones in university libraries in Anambra State of Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey research design, that traced the history of cell phones in Nigeria. The population of 3000 registered student’s library users was studied. Sample size of 100 respondents was used. Accidental sampling technique was used to collect data. A self-constructed questionnaire, validated by two experts from the university library was used for data collection from the sampled students. The reliability of the instrument was tasted in Imo State University Library using Cronbach Alpha formula. Reliability coefficient of 0.88 was obtained. Simple percentages and frequency was used for data analysis. The results of the findings revealed that all the student’s population had cell phone, and they use cell phone mainly for communication. It was also discovered that the use of cell phone actually causes distractions in the library. Finally, students do not want a ban placed on the use of cell phones in the library. Based on the findings, recommendations include among others that the library authorities should place instructions on notice boards and some strategic places within the library banning cell phone use by students when the library is in session

This study is a case study. The study sought to establish the problems of collection development in Anambra State Library Board. The study was conducted in Awka Local Government Area of Anambra state which is in South East Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria. The population of the study consists of 10 librarians working in Kenneth Dike Library (KDL) in Awka Anambra State. The entire population was used as such there was no sampling. This is because the population was small and manageable. Four research questions guided the study. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire designed by the researchers based on the four research questions. The instrument titled ‘Extent of Problems of Collection Development Questionnaire (EPCDQ)’ was validated by two experts in the department of Library Science Ojukwu University, Anambra State. EPCDQ was structured on four-point scale of strongly agreed (SA), agreed (A), disagreed (D) and strongly disagreed (SD). The researchers administered the questionnaire personally. Data was collected within one week. All the questionnaire administered were duly filled and returned. The data obtained through the questionnaire was analysed using simple percentages and frequency tables. The major findings reveal that collection evaluation in KDL is mostly based on the opinion of the librarian, there exists a non-written collection development policy in Anambra State Library Board, the acquisition method used for collection development in Anambra State Library Board is gifts and donations. The researchers recommended amongst others that the librarian should always ensure that collection evaluation is properly done, Anambra State Library Board should have a written collection development policy
